Wifi Biquad
Setup wireless router outside along with biquad wireless wifi dish. Weatherproof enclosure idea! Condensation.?
Yo,
Im planning on building a biquad wireless dish. I was going to run the coaxial cable from the dish, around the house, to the router but i heard you can loose dB from doing this. So i thought, maybe i should take a WRT54G mainboard and put it in a plastic enclosure and mount it outside. It would get power from Passive PoE (Power over ethernet). What im worried about though, is that i need a vent/mesh vent for a fan to be installed inside the enclosure. If the enclosure is completely sealed apart from the 5x5cm(or 8x8cm) mesh vent (for the fan), can water get inside and some how condense. What i mean is condensation inside the enclosure. So in the winter, will water condense inside? I wouldnt want any water touching the insides of the enclosure because the routers mainboard will be exposed inside along with PoE. Is there something i can pad it out with so it wont get too cold for condensation or what?

Just buy and use an OUTDOOR radio unit. leave the router inside!
Ubiquiti makes a "Bullet" radio just for this type use. The lower power unit is only $39.00 plus the price of a POE adapter. They were built to be outside!

Notice that even the low power unit is at least twice the power out and really three times the basic 30mw of a WRT54!
