DVI-D to VGA Converter: Allows Conversion of Digital High-Definition DVI signal into VGA Video
The DVI-D to VGA converter is a hardware device which allows you to connect a VGA projector or a monitor with a 15 Pin HD connector to a computer with DVI-D video card. It basically connects computers with DVI-D single link graphics card to analog VGA monitors. The VGA resolutions supported are 1900 x 1200, 1600 x 1200, 1280 x 1024 and lower. This unit is HDCP compliant and best used when you don't wish to replace your expensive video monitors or display adapters. DVI-D to VGA Video converter is set to 1280 x 1024 by default but alternate video resolutions are available.
Amongst the various types of video converters available on the market, the most popular ones are the DVI-D to VGA and the VGA to DVI-D converter.While the former is designed to allow conversion of digital DVI signals into analog, the latter works on a principle of allowing analog to digital DVI signal conversion. Can an HDMI output from an be connected to a VGA laptop monitor with a HDMI-VGA converter cable to play xbox?
I want to know if i take an HDMI-VGA converted cable and plug it into my xbox and pc, will i be able to play the games on my laptop monitor.
That will NEVER work. Don't even think it.
The VGA port on your laptop is built to SEND OUT video signals only. It cannot RECEIVE.
And in any case, standard HDMI is NOT compatible with VGA.
Those HDMI-VGA cables are intended for video cards that have a specially-built HDMI port capable of sending out an analog VGA signal. It will NOT work with a standard HDMI port.
And the XBox's HDMI port is NOT one of those specially-built ones-- It's a standard HDMI port that sends out only digital video signals.
