DVI-D to VGA: Amalgamation of the Digital and Analog Technology
Converting digital signals to analog can be achieved by using a DVI-D to VGA conversion device. The purpose of using these converters is to enable older television sets and CRT monitors which work on analog signals to be connected with PCs which work on digital technology without investing in the latest display devices. Since these converters work on plug and play, one only needs to connect the DVI end of the adapter to the video card and the VGA connector to the display. DVI video cards produce a digital video signal, which is converted into analog at the VGA output. Easy to set up, once the unit is powered on, the signals are converted and can be viewed on the VGA display devices.
The dvi-d to vga converter has a default resolution of 1280 x 1024 but can support resolutions ranging between 800 x 600 and up to 1920 x 1200 if required. These devices do not require an external power supply for most applications and have a DVI-D and VGA bandwidth of 1.65 GHZ and 165 MHz respectively. Frequency bandwidth is 165 MHz and input and output connectors are single link DVI-D and VGA 15 pin HD male. Consuming low power up to .54 Watts, these units are compliant with HDCP, CE, FCC and RoHS. Also compatible with DDWG DVI Standard, they ensure signal transfer without ghosting or data loss.
Another model of this converter also works the other way by converting analog signals to digital. Devices that do this are called vga to dvi-d conversion devices. Working on a similar principle, by connecting the VGA cable to the input side of the converter and the DVI monitor or projector to the DVI output, signal conversion between analog to digital is made possible. Using this device one can connect a VGA video source to digital DVI monitors or projectors. Supporting resolutions of 1600x1200, this conversion device is compatible with single link DVI, UXGA, SXGA, XGA, SVGA and VGA. Both of these converters ensure that the life of existing analog devices is extended and saves additional expenditure on equipment that works on modern technology. They are ideal for both small and large commercial, government and military applications and the DVI-D to VGA converter is also perfect for home theater set ups.
