Acer aspire having 2 green vertical lines and flickers alot . is it the lcd or cable i should replace?
it works perfectly when plugged onto a external monitor so it shouldnt be the graphic card.
Good troubleshooting.
If the issue appears on the external monitor, the issue is the video subsystem on the motherboard. If the issue is only on the lcd panel, then you have a bad panel.
If you still have a waranty, replacing the panel should be done by the mfgr. The other guy is right, if you do it yourself, you void the rest of the hardware warranty.
However, if your out of warranty, you can buy the panel yourself and install it. It isn't that complicated, but should be done by someone with at least some experience taking apart a notebook. The plpastic bezels that hold it all together are a bit fragile, especially the "front bezel". If you're buying the part from the mfgr, I'd buy the bezel at the same time. The cost of additional shipping and handling on a seperate order is less than the price of the part itself. If you don't need the plastics, just throw them away rather than have one break and then have to wait for another shipment and pay shipping and handling on a seperate purchace.
