What is the maximum kVA required to support the switch and firewall for up to 30 minutes?

So your switch draws 2742VA and the firewall draws 394VA. Total (max) draw is 3136VA. (really it will be less than that since the power figures are maximums but it's best to use these numbers anyway).

So the minimum kVA required is 3.2kVA. You asked for the maximum which is pretty much any number greater than that.

This is just the number to support the load without throwing breakers. It is just part of the information you need to know how long the UPS will stay up. Most UPSs come with enough batteries to stay up for just a few minutes with a full load. You need to add battery packs in order to reach the runtime you are looking for. I know APC's website has a calculator that tells you how many battery packs you need.

It is much cheaper to get a UPS sized to your load and add batteries than to buy a UPS sized for a much larger load that happens to last longer because you are only pulling a fraction of its rating.

Go with APC or Liebert would be my recommendation.

Edit - didn't see you already had a link to APC. I have used dozens of the APC 5k UPSs. Of course their handy graph shows runtime vs. watts. the pfc of this UPS is a sucky .7. So 3.2 kVA is 2240W which shows a runtime of between 10-20 minutes. Get the battery pack!

Also as long as I'm on the subject of UPSs. Don't bother with any of their symmetra crap. Their support is Horrid!
