How do I connect my laptop to my desktop with a firewire port?
I have a firewire port and I need to connect my desktop and laptop. I have already connected the wire to both computers. The small end is on the laptop and the big end is on the desktop. I want to transfer files. Is there a way this can be done? If so, how can it be done and what are the steps.
Some people. Yes you can connect them via Firewire. Put the files you want to transfer in a shared folder, or share the folder they are currently in. It should be as simple as plug and play, both Mac and PCs running Windows XP support transfers of files via Firewire. Note, you can't do this with USB 2.0 unless you have a network enabled USB 2.0 connection, it's a special USB cable you have to buy, basically it has networking brains in it. Firewire has this ability built in.
