Are You Ready To Learn More About A Breaker Panel?

Both the circuit breaker panel and used breaker panel can be used as the main distribution unit for electrical circuits inside your home. One single circuit breaker panel is able to supply your home of up to 200 amps of power.

To make this happen, the electricity that is provided by the electric company is sent through an electrical meter, which then, goes through an electrical disconnect, and finally, into your circuit breaker.

The circuit breakers have two rows of switches. The main breaker is larger than all other switches found inside the panel, and marked with a value of protection on the breaker handle.

The two rows of buss that run up and down are the two phases-A and B-of electrical power from which you will connect the branch circuit breakers. The electric provider company provides the single-phase power to your home.

The connection on top of the breaker is phase A and the bottom connection is phase B. belonging to phase A are circuits 1, 5, 9, and 2, 6, 10. Belonging to phase B are circuits 3, 7, 1, and 4, 8, 12.

Older houses usually have a circuit breaker panels that can only supply up to 60 amps, which are not really enough to power up most modern electrical devices. The minimum requirement of a new home is 100 amps, which can be enough to power up coffeemakers, crock pots, toasters, microwaves, air conditioners, hot tubs, air compressors, dish washers, waffle irons, pizza ovens and more.

However, to be safe, and if you have more appliances inside your home, and you use these simultaneously, you will need a 200-amp circuit breaker panel.

The amount of power that your home may need can be measured by looking at each electrical device inside your home. Each electrical device has a number rating. The number ratings of all electrical devices should be summed up to determine the appropriate size of a breaker panel.

If you are unsure of the amount of electricity you need, it is wise to seek the services of a licensed electrician, before you decide to install the circuit breaker panel. This may prevent short-circuit and other electrical accidents.

The breaker panel, whether brand new or used, is mounted on the provided slot brackets. Mounting is easy as pressing the back side the breaker panel into the bracket. Then, the front side of the breaker is pressed firmly against the buss bar. This side is where the switch is located.

The switch should be visible once you look at the face of the breakers. The switch can be turned on and off, and a corresponding light should be on as well. For example, if a red light is on, it is an indication that the breaker is in the tripped phase. A tripped phase refers to short circuit and the breaker will turn off due to an overload.

Breaker panel and used breaker panel can be bought from any hardware or electrical shops. You can also surf the web to find the ones that are in good working condition.

How to fit a spacer / decor panel between two appliances?

Hi,

We are installing/fitting the new kitchen. We have 2 integrated (built under) appliances (dishwasher and washing machine). They are not in housings. When we ordered a Spacer Panel (décor panel) to go between the two was included. How do we go about fixing this panel? I presume that it should not be screwed into the washing machine (!!) Would brackets at the floor and wall be enough?

Thanks for your help,

T

I had a similar problem while re fitting my kitchen and used brackets on the floor and under the work surface( use short screws)
