HOW TO : Open my NAT on both my routers?

I have a vonage (motorola) router and a dlink router and am trying to open the NAT on both of them so i can private chat on xbox live. heres my setup

CABLE MODEM:---- to WAN port on vonage modem:-----LAN port on vonage device to WAN Port of my Dlink:----LAN port 1 of my Dlink router to my Xbox 360. Xbox live works and says my NAT is open, but i think its reading the NAT off my first router(vonage) which is for sure open. When i use just the vonage one it works fine but when i run it through both private chat doesnt work. I have enabled UPnP, Enable DMZ on my Dlink to my xbox 360's IP.
i already opened the ports, and the vonage motorola device is a router not a modem. i have a cable modem that has to run into the vonage device to give me internet phone.

I think we have some terminology problems here. I don't think you want to disable NAT, you want to open TCP ports on the firewall of your Dlink router.

I believe your Vonage Motorola device is not a router, but a broadband modem, so there's no need to change anything with it.

You Dlink needs to open the correct TCP and UDP ports in order to connect to Xbox Live. It sounds like you have the Xbox itself in DMZ mode, but I believe you have some sort of messaging client on the Xbox that needs ports opened, and putting the Xbox in DMZ will open the ports it needs, but not necessarily the ports for the Xbox Live chat client.

Navigate to your Dlinks firmware (Open IE and it's usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1). In Firewall settings open these ports:
