If you enjoy hearing new bands play a variety of music then you should visit the Bloomfield Bridge Tavern in Pittsburgh. Every Tuesday night starting at 9 pm they have a great line up of musicians waiting to play a gig, many for the first time. You never know you could be witness to the next biggest band of the decade
This Open Mic Night as it is known has a featured band that plays for a full 30 minutes. Then all the new bands take the stage. This will be the first time for many of them playing in front of a live audience. This Polish party house is always full on Tuesday nights as people enjoy listening to great music.
If you are a band member and would like to play on Open Mic night then arrive early next Tuesday. You will need to register your band first, otherwise you might miss the opportunity to play that night. Currently Open Mic night runs from 9 – 11 pm.
The Bloomfield Bridge Tavern has been hosting bands for the last 23 years. They enjoy supporting local bands in the Pittsburgh area and allow musicians to play several times a week. Their only rule is that your band is supported locally. Plus all the band members must be 21 years and older.
Any up and coming band needs a place to practice and Open Mic night gives them that chance. It is a great experience of playing live in front of a mixed audience. Plus you will have to deal with any complications should they arise. Instruments and wiring can be a picky bunch!
If your set goes well on Open Mic night you may get the chance to be chosen as the featured band for another date. Being featured gives you thirty minutes of continuous playing time, what a great opportunity.
The Bloomfield Bridge Tavern hosts a friendly bunch of patrons who enjoy listening to music while eating some great food and washing it down with a few drinks. Bottles are served at a cheaper price during Open Mic too!
Open Mic night attracts all types of people from the Pittsburgh area, you never know who might be listening to your music. If you are interested in performing don't forget to arrive early next Tuesday and be the first band to get registered for the night.

I have a ground loop hum in the sound system at our church. What is the easiest fix?
I added a video projector and computer to the system. The hum started when I plugged in the sound from the projector. Before I could add a filter, I unplugged everything (mixer, wireless mics, cd player, etc...about a dozen plugs!) and started from scratch. Now the hum starts when I plug in the mixer.
The simplest fix I found for a similar problem at a church was to use an extension cord and plug the amplifier into a different circuit.
