Laptop kicked off network when transferring files to network attached storage?
Hello all,
So as the title suggests I am trying to copy files from my laptop (vista) to a network attached hard drive (Buffalo Linkstation Pro). Everything works fine for a while and then every 2-3 minutes as the transfer is happening my laptop will loose conection to the network.
I assume this is the router doing it for some reason....or windows.....but I don't know why or how to fix it. Also, I know the network is still working because I can use other devices on it when the laptop can't find it (i.e. ipad, iphone, another laptop - work fine when the laptop Im using can't find it). When this happens all I have to do is the error box to try again after about a minute or so when the network has automatically re-attached. This would be fine but I was hoping to move 150GB of pictures to the hard drive.
Anyhow, anyone have any ideas?

If you don't want to deal with the laptop disconnecting, a short term fix for this would be to plug the external hard drive directly into the laptop while you transfer the files. It won't be a problem for any files that are already on the hard drive, but while you are transferring the files, you obviously can't transfer files to the hard drive from other laptop.
