Top Five Reasons To Invest PCI Express Gen 2
1. The system solution technology risks are low
Since PCI Express 2.0 builds upon the previous PCIe 1.1 standard, new PCI 2.0 cards can operate in either a PCIe 2.0 or 1.1 industrial computer system environment. This inherent PCIe 2.0 backward compatibility means that in Government & Defense applications such as Secure Cross Domain Network and Video Image Processing system solutions where secure networking or advanced video processing is key, and the systems are deployed for long periods of time; the option card technology can evolve without adversely affecting the current system installation.

How can SLI work with only one PCI-e x16 slot?
How is it possible to link two PCI-e x16 cards together on a motherboard with only one PCI-e x16 slot? I keep reading about the x8 bifurcated slot. But it still wouldn't fit. I must be missing something important here.
If your mother board only has one PCIe slot then of course you cant run SLI even though the video card is set up to run SLI. If you have mother board with two PCIe slots and it said its SLI ready ...but ..slot one runs at x16 and slot two runs at x8 you can put two equal video cards in and "bridge" them with the SLI bridge. Since you only use the DVI port on card #1 for your monitor you are getting an "assist" from card #2 through the SLI bridge. It just gives you more bandwidth that a single card.
