How do I set my Belkin N1 as a WAP so my notebooks can access wired printers and network drives on my home LAN
Wired to my router is my desktop and an Iomega Storcenter 1tb drive. Wirelessly, I use two different notebooks. How can I configure my router (Belkin N1) to function as a WAP so the notebooks can see the Iomega, desktop, and printers. I know there's a feature in the setup that says "use as access point" but what then? I have the option to "Specify IP Address" once I've enabled "use as access point". I don't understand the process and could use a walkthrough. Thanks!
simple
don't use the WAN port on your wireless router
set the local IP address to a number open in your current scheme (usually 192.168.1.###) for local home networks, just so you can edit settings, mac filtering, etc etc
other than that, the router doesn't do anything, most settings go from the WAN connection to the LANs on the router... if you only uses the LAN ports, DHCP passes through, as does anything else... the only thing that might matter is the (afore mentioned) mac filtering, and the encryption (WEP, more preferred WPA/WPA2)
(make sure you disable the router DHCP if you have another one doing it... could cause a headache)
