Setup VoIP within our network?

We are looking into setting up VoIP within our network. We are not really sure how to go about this. We don't want to use a carrier and have thought about using Cisco's VoIP Infrastructure Solutions for SIP. Would we still need to use our PBX, or could we hybrid PBX and VoIP? How would we go about this and what are the advantages/disadvantages of it over digital? Does anyone know where I can find information on this as well?

Cisco is a good choice it is enterprise and is fully supported although it can cost more that extra cost is invaluable if calling is critical to the business.

Depending on the size of your business you could go for the
UC500 (up to 50 users) hardware based all in one solution. You can literally deploy yourself
CUCME (like the UC500 but is not packaged sd much supports more)

You can easily migrate straight off you existing PBX i.e. connect both systems together via an E1 back to back trunk) or run them separately.

If you are looking to run SIP trunks with providers on the internet I suggest you invest in the Cisco IP to IP gateway for security and management. Also you need a SIP capable Firewall.

Have a look at the UC500 it is very easy to install and manage (GUI based install in about 30 mins) and supports all the standard PBX features.

Go to Call Manager or Call Manger Business Edition if you have 50 to 500 users and less than 1 sites (BE) has IP PBX, Mail and other services installed on a single (Linux) Server. NB you will also need Voice Gateways (SIP or PSTN) like ISR 28-38 routers
