NetXen 10 Gigabit Ethernet Adapters Now Available from HP
NetXen, Inc, the leader in mainstream 10-Gigabit Ethernet server connectivity, today announced that its OEM relationship with HP has been extended to include 10-Gigabit Ethernet connectivity adapters for the HP ProLiant server family.
Building on the OEM relationship that saw HP ship the industry's first high volume 10 Gigabit server connectivity into the x86 server market in 2006, NetXen's NX3031-based, third-generation family of Intelligent NICs is now available as a stand-alone network adapter offering from HP, the HP NC522SFP Dual Port 10GbE Server Adapter. The NetXen NX3031 features two 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces; four Gigabit Ethernet interfaces; and NetXen's flexible networking architecture, which enables HP to offer quad port 1GbE network connectivity in servers today along with a cost-effective option to upgrade to 10GbE connectivity.

I want to create a gigabit network. What do i need?
I have two laptops running Windows xp Sp2 with no gigabit adapters installed. I also have a desktop which is also running Windows XP sp2 and with no gigabit adapters installed. I have Broadband Internet with a modem.
I want to make a wired netowrk not a wireless.
you will need to purchase some gigabit adapters.

you will also need a gigabit switch, there are not many decent adsl routers with gigabit built in yet http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=NH-05GB
if your existing modem is a usb product then you will need to replace it with an ethernet modem. this modem will connect to the switch at 100mb rather than 1000gb but this is not a problem as your adsl is probably less than 10mb.
The only real advantage you will have over a 100mb network is the abilty to transfer files between machine more quickly. Is this a worthwhile trade off given that your laptops will no longer be using wifi?
