Proper RAM Timings For pc6400 800 mhz
m running with two pairs of RAM recently in my system... I saw a better deal on cheap Kingston PC 6400, and need to add it to my 2gigs of Ocz RAM that I already had.. My Ocz is 2x1gig and the Kingston 2x2gig for a completion of 6 gigs..

What should be the RAM settings made to get the full 800 mhz while they are in separate and they run at 800 mhz, but as quickly, I put them all in, *paired properly* the speed getting low as 667 mhz, that is well if my FSB is running default because my default fsb is 333 but when I Overclock the FSB, it make my RAM speed to 667 at like a 5/6 ratio..
There are few people having RAM and running with the actual speed. Automatically the speed is consumed by some other internal operation of your system management. But now a days, it has been possible to get full speed. I got your configuration and find that the connected board probably has an problem with you mixing RAM. And also most boards don't handle 4 sticks very fine and it needs extra northbridge voltage to get the speed back up.

I need to compare my RAM speed to those with better RAM modules or even with DDR3 memory. As I know, there is not more difference what timings you currently have. I really wanted get that how quick is DDR3 or DDR2-1066, and is there any point spending money for extreme RAM. P.S. I purchased this memory for £59 (4x1GB) that is pretty cheap.?????

Currently, processors contains bigger cache to eliminate bottlenecks with lower memory. Therefore you commonly would not get to see a substantial difference in performance from cheap to very costly memory.

In respect to tighter timings, you would not figure out so much maximum performance in games and other intensive software's, but what you will notice is that your system will be snapier! that indicates there will be minimum time to initiate software's. But once the software getting load up, you would not notice that much of a difference.I like to have a snappy system, so like minimum timings.

First of all,you need to worry about DDR3 RAM. You can't use it in your machine. And secondly, DDR2-1066 is usually just overclocked common RAM with the voltage raised to support it. You can do the same by using the similar configurations in the BIOS. I normally just purchase some better quality RAM and overclock it myself.

I am aware about this, I can't use DDR3 ! Just wondering if DDR3 find the absolute speeds of my OC memory ? I have googled a lot around and I was unable to get DDR3 doing more that 9GB/s that makes it slower that OCed DDR2 !

Proper RAM Timings For pc6400 800 mhz
I have an "Intel Core 2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13 GHz , with 2 GB Ram, How do I make it a 4 or 8 Gig ram?
Is it as simple as just plugging in more ram?
Do I need to do anything else software-wise?
Yes, it is a simple matter of plugging in more RAM. The only real tricky parts are A) getting your case open and not being intimidated by all the other hardware and wiring (you usually won't have to touch anything else, unless it's blocking access to the RAM), and B) Finding RAM that your motherboard supports. Also note that your RAM will only operate as fast as your slowest DIMM (stick). So getting faster memory won't help unless you completely *replace* your old memory. If you just adding more memory, be sure its similar speed to your old memory. The type, amount, and speed of memory (RAM) that is supported is determined by the motherboard. You should check in with the Computer manufacturer (Dell, HP, etc.) to see what hardware upgrades your computer supports. Once you have all the info and have purchased your RAM, it's all a matter of opening your case, finding the RAM slots (there are 2, 4, or 6 slots, depending on your motherboard) and snapping in the new RAM.
As far as software requirements - 32bit operating system recognizes up to 4GB of RAM (though often times only 3.25GB will be usable). A 64bit operating system can recognize 128GB of RAM, but Microsoft limited this capacity in Windows 7/Vista in their Home Basic editions to 8GB and 16GB in the Home Premium Editions. This limit is removed in the Business, Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions.
