1. Overview

Yahoo messenger, Skype, Microsoft Messenger and Vonage offer a subscriber the ability to "call" someone using Softphone/Gateway ATA/IPPhone/IAD. However, several ISPs are blocking or degrading this service in order to force a consumer to use a ISP sponsored service. States such as the UAE block this technology outright while US corporations, such as Clearwire, claim that they might degrade the quality of competing services by adding choppy and delayed services.

2. Technology

?VGCP(Voice Guard Control Protocol)

VGCP is a proprietary layer 2 link protocol working at between IP stack and nic driver for VoIP anti-blocking. The core patent-pending VGCP is industrys most state-of-the-art voice service provider class security protocol whose scalability and flexibility results in not to compromise voice quality and overhead. VGCP controls and monitors full voice signaling and media flow intelligently, meanwhile disguises sip and rtp packets into normal allowed data packets such as DNS and TFTP, and makes two-way encryption and decryption driven by user-customized policy. VGCP is fully transparent to upper SIP proxy or UA which means VoiceGuard™ can work with any 3rd-party Softphone/ATA/Gateway/IPPhone/IADs and SIP proxy or server not like some competitors which take effect on their own device and softswitch.

Due to unique architecture, when deploying VoiceGuard™ Border Controller(VGBC) at customer CPE side, VGBC can work in the way similar to that of soho router, but it only encrypts and decrypts SIP and RTP packets on link layer, not to handup these packets to IP stack for forwarding while bypassing other data packets originating from SIP terminals. In this scenario, peak throughput and minimal CPU overhead can be easily achieved.

lost my messenger Nothing but a blank messenger box with top taskbar...What do i do to get it back?

sbc daid it was from windows download..told me to call Gateway and have my vista altered

You need to uninstall messenger Completely so you can get rid of the corrupted file that is causing your problem and get a clean install.

Now when you uninstall not all of the yahoo messenger files are deleted from your Program Files, so if the problem you are having is caused by a corrupted file then the problem will still be there when you install it again.

So what you need to do is uninstall messenger then go to your Program files and delete the yahoo folder.

To uninstall you need to click on the Start button(the one on your task bar) then go to Control Panel then to Add/Remove Programs, find yahoo in the list and click on it then on uninstall.<< this is for XP

To uninstall in Vista click on start then Control Panel then on Uninstall a Program in the new window find yahoo click it to uninstall it.

To find and delete the Yahoo folder click on the start button in your task bar then on My Computer then C: drive then Program Files then right click on the Yahoo folder and Delete it. It's a good idea to reboot your PC now to make sure it's all gone out of your system.

Now you can go here > http://messenger.yahoo.com/ and get the 8.1 yahoo messenger.
I suggest staying away from the 9.0 beta as the 8.1 version is more stable and does not have the bugs the beta version has!

To install messenger on Vista you need to download messenger to your desktop. Then Right click on the installer and then click on "Run as Administrator> to get it to install correctly.
