The Old National Cash Register Company
Sometimes we take for granted the simple things in life, the objects that we use every day that makes life so convenient. We should sometimes take a second and recognize and learn where some of these contraptions came from and who is the mastermind behind them. One of these devices that we don't normally think about is the cash register, who invented it and where did it come from. The Old National Cash Register company helped spread the cash register to the widespread existence it has today.
The original cash register was invented by a saloon owner named James Ritty. After watching a steamboat machine count the rotations of the wheel on the boat he wondered if he could make a machine that counted money. He and his brother John Ritty made a few prototypes and finally created a machine that acted as a basic adding machine. They patented the machine and started production of the cash register in 1879.
Ritty couldn't handle the pressure of owning two businesses sold all his assets to a man named Jacob Eckert of Cincinnati. He in turn sold the company he had titled the National Manufacturing Company to John H. Patterson who renamed the company the National Cash Register Company. This is where the modern name of cash register.
The old National Cash Register Company added some fine details to the cash register. Many store owners originally didn't feel like they needed the cash register in their stores. It soon became just a "show item" to draw people into the stores to see the fancy brass cash register. The National Cash Register Company added a paper roll to the register in order to record the sales transactions. It was mainly used to enhance fraud protections to the owner could view each transaction at the end of the day. In 1906, Charles Kettering designed a register for the National Cash Register company with an electric motor which led to the modern day register.
Just as in all the contraptions we use everyday all of them seem to just be getting better and better every time a new model. The original cash register was just a simple adding machine but the old National Cash Register company helped transition that simple machine into the modern, electric, receipt printing cash register that is used in almost every single store across the world. But one thing hasn't changed is the ring of the bell every time a transaction is made.

Will anyone purchace mixed breed puppies? Both parents are registered. How can I list them on the internet?
I have a registered Minature Pinscher, and a registed silky terrier. They "got together" by mistake. I believe we'll have puppies around the end of September. Is there a hybrid for these? Where would be a safe place to list them on the interet. My puppies are precious to me! Thanks
Charge only enough to discourage the people who would want to resell them or use them for research or other foul objectives. Don't put a cute label on them- you'll encourage people to make more. Take the money you make from the pups and have the parents fixed so you don't have any more accidents. 5 million dogs and cats die every year in US shelters- please don't make more pups that take away more potential homes. Thank you.
