Converting the Digital Cables to AV By Yourself
In the market, you will find some types of digital video cables. The examples of the cables are the DVI or Digital Visual Interface and the HDMI or the High Definition Media Interface. These two interfaces have the function to transfer the video signals from the televisions to the computers.
The main function of the cables is to transfer the signal between two electronic devices. You can use the cables to transfer the audio signals between the devices, but many cables in the market are used to transfer the digital video. However, when you want to send the digital optical signals to the analog device, you will need to change the digital to the analog audio/video (AV) connection. You can do it by connecting the digital to the analog cable converter. You do not need to worry because you can find these devices in the market easily.
Before you can convert the digital cables to the AV, you will need the tools like the digital to AV converter, digital video cable, and RCA AV cable. The first thing you should do is plugging the digital cable to the televisions out port digital, computer, or other devices which you will use the connection.
Then you can plug the opposite end to the "digital in" port which is located in the converter. Before you do any converting process, you should ensure that the converter matches with the cable you will use. It is better for you to use the DVI cables if you use the DVI cable converter. If you use the HDMI cable converter, you need to use the HDMI port.
The next thing you do is plugging the Analog RCA AV cables to the video out ports on the converter. You have to ensure you plug the cables with the same colors. Meanwhile, you plug the cables' opposite end to the "In" port on the device where you will send the digital optical signal to.

Could I use the digital converter box and tv cable in the same time?
Now my analog tv is connected to the comcast basic cable. I can also view some channels which are not in the comcast free channel list. So, I think these are air-broadcast channel.
I don't have antenna. If I bought a digital converter box, do I have to buy an antenna. And can I use both free cable and digital converter box in the same time?
A digital converter box is just a digital tuner. It needs a source signal to tune, thus the need for an antenna.
FYI ---The digital tuner in the digital converter box is a ATSC tuner for over the air TV. A digital tuner in a cable box is a QAM tuner for use only with digital cable TV. They are not the same.
For viewing TV you can you can buy a simple A/B switch to switch the input to the TV from Cable to the converter box.
