My Sharp Aquos TV is only two years old and yet I have trouble picking up signal from non-cable channels?
My TV will either say the signal is getting weaker or that there is no signal to be found. I routinely do a search for non-cable channels and have encountered the same problem over and over again. Someone told me it had to do with the wiring? Can anyone help?
Providing the built-in tuner is ok, there is not much you can do. In that case it is an antenna problem depending on where you live. The signal being picked up is simply too weak to barely get above the basic background noise. You may need an outside antenna being mounted as high as possible to clear any obstructions like high buildings etc. You do not have a wiring problem as far as I can see if you try to use the built-in antenna. There should be a switch at the back of your TV or it may be only accessible by accessing the menu and going to the input function(s)... selecting external (off air) antenna 1 or 2.
I assume the TV tuner is ok - since you are using the same tuner for your cable channels.
