How To Replace A Reciprocating Saw Blade

In this guide we will discuss the proper methods to replace a reciprocating saw blade. Over time, the blades will become dull and damaged and need to be replaced. Most blades are really easy to install because they do not require any tools.

Step By Step Instructions

1) Make sure to unplug the reciprocating saw or remove the battery. Check the size of the blade for your reciprocating saw. Make sure to buy a compatible and suitable replacement blade for your brand and model.

2) You will need to point the saw away from your body by holding it against you with the blade as far away as possible. You can lean the saw on your body but make sure not to hold it near the switch.

3) Go ahead and find the thick ring at the base of the blade (it is right at the place where the blade goes into the saw). This ring is called the locking collar.

4) Pull the locking collar toward the saw and your body. At the same time, you need to turn the collar counter-clockwise. Now you will feel that the locking collar is getting loose and then the blade will be popping out from the saw. This is because the locking collar ring has a spring mechanism inside it that ejects the blade.

5) Insert the new blade into the same place as the old one. Next, turn the locking collar slightly, clockwise, which will lock the new blade into place. The collar will actually suck the end of the blade inside indicating that the blade is secure and firmly fixed with a clicking sound. Remember that the teeth of the reciprocating saw can be installed to face up or down.

6) Lastly, plug the reciprocating saw back in or put back its battery.

Where is the blade cutoff switch on a snapper z rider?

it cuts off on bumps and is very irritating. i couldn't find it in the owners manual.Difficult to mow on bumpy yards.

Your problem is with the operator presence switch. With each bounce you are coming off the seat, which disengages the switch, which shuts the mower down when the deck is running. When you lift up the seat you should see a gray button, this is the switch. And how it works is when the switch is not depressed, it grounds the engine to kill it.
