Why is my portable hard drive not working and making a beeping noise?
I just had my laptop handed down to me. Its an Acer TravelMate 2300. It is a bit older and the usb ports are only 1.1 I think. When I tried to connect my Verbatim 320G Portable hard drive in it gave me the "power surge on hub port" message.
Well the laptop came with a USB 2.0 Cardbus. Not knowing what it was i took it out. Now today I put it back in and the laptop is recognizing that there is some kind of hardware.
My first question is : How do I make sure the cardbus is in right? I also want to know why my portable hard drive was blinking and beeping when I plugged it in. Any help you can give me would be nice. Also since the laptop was handed down to me I dont have any kind of installation CDs.
Here's a suggestion. I found 2 sites for Acer support. The links are in the source box.
