Guide On Buying Compaq Presario V2000, Compaq Presario V2000 Ac Adapter

The major decisions in customizing my Compaq Presario V2000 were the operating system, the processor, the display, memory, hard drive size and speed, Compaq Presario V2000 AC Adapter, CD drive, battery and wireless option. The configuration, which I purchased, as follows:
OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows XP Home
Processor: Intel Pentium M 710 to 1.4 GHz
SCREEN: 14.0 "WXGA Widescreen (not the BrightView)
Memory: 256 MB SDRAM (1×256)
Hard Drive: 40 GB 4200 rpm min
CD Drive: DVD / CD-RW combo drive
Battery: 6-cell lithium ion
WIRELESS: Intel PRO / Wireless 2200BG WLAN (without Bluetooth).

Initially thought I order my Compaq Presario V2000 with a Celeron processor to save even more money. But after watching a little research, I decided that this was an area where I do not want a Downgrade too much. I decided with the least expensive Centrino option to go at the time of the Pentium M-710, 1.4 GHz. I have also chosen the cheapest option Hard Drive (Compaq AC Adapter) and the minimal amount of memory (256 MB). First I noticed that the performance of the computer is not as snappy as I liked had. Some programs and windows seemed a long time to open and close to take. I tinkered with the visual effects and launch options to maximize the number of processes running to minimize the background. This Compaq Presario V2000 AC Adapter seemed to help somewhat, but it became clear that I would be the amount of memory that I had underestimated need.

what's the best home wireless network (e.g. router adapter combo) setup in the market?

i'm trying to avoid all the wires so i'm looking for the best router/adapter combo: best range and speed without spending that much money... right now i'm using a belkin router fsd9230 and a linksys adapter wusb54gs and i can't seem to get the best performance out of these 2... i also have another adapter (airlink model "?" that has 3 antennas) that will not connect at all, and the router is just in the other room... cat5 will be my last option...

I prefer D-Link myself. I have used Netgear, Linksys, Belkin, Proxim, Orinoco, SMC, Apple and Intel units and in my experience D-Links are not only the easiest to setup but have the fewest problem units. They dont have that great of customer support, but thats the least important thing to me. I prefer easy setup and performance over support.

But everyone has different feelings about there favorite brands and models.
